Fire safety, pollution & environmental clearances

Screen early for fire, pollution-control, environmental and forest requirements — then coordinate the specialists.

The need

Many projects stall late because a fire, pollution-control, environmental or forest requirement surfaced only at the end. Early screening against the site and the activity avoids redesign and delay.

Typical scope

  • Screening: what the activity, size and location suggest — fire approvals under the Haryana Fire and Emergency Services Act, 2022; consent to establish and operate from the State Pollution Control Board where applicable; prior environmental clearance under the EIA Notification, 2006 for listed projects and thresholds; and forest or PLPA status of the land.
  • Engaging the fire, environmental and other consultants who must prepare the technical documents.
  • Collating submissions and tracking conditions.

Special care: Aravalli and PLPA land

In parts of Gurugram district, land may be covered by orders under the Punjab Land Preservation Act, 1900. The Supreme Court held in 2022 that land covered by special orders under Section 4 of that Act has the trappings of forest land, so non-forest use needs prior Central Government approval. Separate Supreme Court proceedings on defining the Aravalli range were continuing when we last checked. Check status before any commitment.
