The law in Haryana

The Haryana Fire and Emergency Services Act, 2022 governs fire prevention and safety in buildings and premises. Whether a building needs fire approvals depends on its use, height and size.

Stages

  • Design-stage approval for buildings that need it, on drawings by a fire consultant/architect.
  • Installation of systems as approved.
  • Inspection and certificate before occupation.
  • Periodic renewal and maintenance records.

For tenants

Ask for the building's current fire certificate and confirm your fit-out does not change the basis on which it was issued.

Who decides

The fire authority decides; fire consultants and architects prepare submissions; installers certify their work.
