Why it matters
Power capacity often decides whether an industrial or warehouse site works. A large load may need upstream infrastructure that takes time.
Steps
- Have your electrical engineer prepare a load schedule (connected load, demand, supply voltage).
- For an existing site, read the current bill and sanction: account, category, sanctioned load and supply voltage.
- Ask the distribution licensee (for Gurugram, Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam) about the procedure for a new connection or load enhancement.
- Plan for internal works by a licensed electrical contractor and any statutory inspections.
The rules
New connections and load changes follow the regulator's Electricity Supply Code and its amendments, along with the licensee's instructions.

Make the sanctioned load and its transfer to you a condition, not an assumption.
